At Triple Tap Ventures, we pride ourselves on not only delivering exceptional experiences but also on the dedicated individuals who make it all possible. One such person is Enrique Gonzalez, affectionately known as Kiki by his friends.
Early Beginnings and a Passion for Culinary Arts
Enrique been an indispensable part of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema family in El Paso, Texas, since 2015. As the Kitchen Manager, his passion for food and film has played a crucial role in shaping the unique culture and culinary deliciousness that our foodie film aficionados have come to love.
The journey with Alamo Drafthouse began in November 2015 when he was recruited after his previous experience at Twin Peaks. The opportunity to work at Alamo Drafthouse was an offer he couldn’t refuse, combining his two great loves. “I couldn’t say no because, first of all, it’s food made from scratch, and second, I’m addicted to movies. I’ve been addicted to movies since I was a kid, so I was just amazed at what this company was and is,” he recalls. His passion for cinema combined with his culinary expertise, made his role at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema a perfect fit. And we were definitely lucky to have him join our ranks!
The Pillars of Consistency, Innovation, and Supportive Management
Throughout his tenure at Alamo Drafthouse, Enrique has remained committed to maintaining the highest standards of consistency in the kitchen. “Consistency in the food, consistency in the recipes, consistency in keeping the kitchen clean, and setting the standards,” he emphasizes. Enrique’s unwavering dedication to these principles ensures that every dish served at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema meets the lofty expectations of our guests.
Enrique also thrives in the challenges and opportunities for innovation that come with Alamo Drafthouse’s themed movie menus and seasonal selections. Enrique and his team continually expand their culinary repertoire with each exciting new roll-out. “It’s fun because we just started learning more culinary arts, and everything that we invent at Alamo Drafthouse turns out to be super awesome and delicious,” he shares. This creative freedom has led to the development of some iconic dishes that have become fan favorites.
Kiki’s impact extends beyond his culinary expertise. As a mentor and leader, he is dedicated to the growth and success of his team. “I always tell them, ‘If it’s going to be for a better opportunity, follow your legacy in life. I’m always going to back you up. I want you guys to be successful here or out there or anywhere. Most importantly, I want you guys to be happy,’” he says. His supportive attitude fosters a positive work environment that exemplifies one of Triple Tap Venture’s core values: Our people are everything. Enrique has helped many of our team members achieve their professional and personal goals, and his encouragement drives us all.
What’s Kiki's Favorite Dish?
“For sure, it’s the ribeye tacos,” he says, describing them as “extremely delicious.” The ribeye tacos are made of thinly sliced ribeye sautéed with a soy mix, black pepper, caramelized onions, and avocado crema. They are so beloved that even Enrique’s kids insist on having them every time they visit.
Another highlight for him is the Alamo Drafthouse pizzas. “All our pizzas are out of this world,” Enrique proudly states. The Carnivore and the Tomato Pesto Pizzas are particular favorites, especially when topped with chicken or sausage. The commitment to making these dishes from scratch is a testament to Enrique’s dedication to quality and authenticity.
Beyond the Theater Walls and the Kitchen Doors
Outside of work, Enrique is a devoted husband and father who loves to spend time with his family. They live right outside of El Paso on a little plot of land where they raise chickens. He is particularly fond of his Lavender rooster. He also enjoys playing the drums with his son. And, of course, dressing up as his favorite film characters for Halloween, whether with his family or his Alamo crew.
As Enrique continues to lead the culinary team at the two Alamo Drafthouse Cinema locations in El Paso, his passion for food and dedication to excellence remain as strong as ever. “When you have that passion for culinary arts, for food, for learning, and becoming better, all of that will lead you to happiness,” he reflects. For Enrique, being part of the Alamo Drafthouse family is more than just a job—it’s fun, fulfilling, and delicious!
At Triple Tap Ventures, we are incredibly proud to have Enrique as part of our team. His unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and mentorship embodies the spirit of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and enriches the experience for our film-loving guests every day. Here’s to many more years of culinary greatness and unforgettable memories with Enrique at the helm!
